Pitchens End field path improvements

Work has begun on the footpath extension in Pitchens End field in Broad Hinton and is expected to be completed by the end of next week.

This improvement is essential to allow people to safely use the route to travel between the centre of the village and bus stops without having to use the unpaved route on the blind bend where the High Street turns down Post Office Lane. This is especially important in winter months for people with mobility issues, prams etc.

At the same time, the spacing of the crash barriers at the Pitchens End/Post Office Lane side will be widened to allow for easier access.

The work was initially fully funded by the Lottery Fund and Wiltshire Council (Area Board Grant), but required a small top-up from the Parish Council funds due to increased building material costs.
