On 14 August 2026 the Information Statement for the Broad Hinton, Winterbourne Bassett & Uffcott Neighbourhood Development Plan referendum was published, opening the statutory "referendum period," which runs until the close of poll on 24th September 2026.

Under Section 5 of the Neighbourhood Planning (Referendums) Regulations 2012, the Parish Council cannot, during this period, publish any material that puts forward arguments for or against the Plan, provides general commentary, or responds to issues raised about the referendum. This applies regardless of the Council's own view on the outcome.

What we can and will continue to publish: the referendum version of the Plan, the Examiner's Report and related documents, and practical information about the referendum - the timetable, polling arrangements, and how to register for a postal or proxy vote.

The Parish Council does not take a position on how residents should vote. Individual councillors may express personal views or take part in campaign activity in a personal capacity, entirely separately from their council role and without using any council resources.
