Broad Hinton and Winterbourne Bassett Parish Council - Parish Councillor Vacancy

Notice is hereby given that a vacancy has occurred in the office of Parish Councillor for the Winterbourne Bassett ward of Broad Hinton and Winterbourne Bassett Parish Council.

The Parish Council is now free to co-opt a registered elector, aged 18 or over, who lives within the parish boundary of Broad Hinton, Winterbourne Bassett and Uffcott, to the post of parish councillor.

Although all parish councillors represent the parish as a whole, we would like representatives from all 3 villages. At the moment we have five councillors from Broad Hinton and one from Winterbourne Bassett.  The maximum allowable is seven councillors from the ward of Broad Hinton and Uffcott and two from the ward of Winterbourne Bassett.

The role of a Parish Councillor is to bring local issues to the attention of the council and help make decisions on behalf of the local community.   Parish councillors also get involved in reviewing planning applications, preparing emergency plans, and supporting Wiltshire’s Climate Strategy.  We are also considering preparing a neighbourhood plan so would really like applications from residents that would like to help shape the future of our parish.

Experience is not necessary, as training will be given, but enthusiasm and commitment are. The Parish Council meets 6 times a year, on the first Tuesday of every other month, in Broad Hinton village hall. We use Microsoft 365 to collaborate between meetings so familiarity with Microsoft Office is useful but not essential as training can be given.

If you feel you have the skills and wish to serve the community as a parish councillor, please contact the clerk, Peter Barry, by email at clerk@bhwbparishcouncil.org.uk to express your interest by Wednesday 18th August 2021.

If you require any further information, please contact Alex LaRoche (Chairman) on 07974 398640 or email alex.laroche@bhwbparishcouncil.org.uk.

All applicants will be interviewed and will need to submit a CV and covering letter to support their formal application. Applications will be reviewed before the next Parish Council meeting on the 7th September 2021.
